Israel Car Rental

The best way for independent travelers to get around Israel exploring the sights at their own pace is by using Israel car rentals. There are several car rental agencies at the Ben Gurion Airport upon arrival in Tel Aviv and at most major towns across the country. Israel has 16,100 km (10,000 miles) of well maintained highways, making it very easy to get around with your own Israel car rental.

Driving can be fast in the cities and the driving culture can be described as a little impatient! Traffic lights are widely used in the cities, but rarely on highways. Standard signs are fairly international but most written traffic signs are shown in Hebrew, English and Arabic, although translations sometimes leave much to be desired…

For ease of navigation, remember that even numbered roads run north-south and odd numbered roads run east-west. The only toll road which affects Israel car rental is highway 6 which runs south from road 65 at Barkai. The toll is usually charged to the vehicle so those with a rental car must sign an agreement not to use that highway – so plan your route carefully.
